A Winter Wonderland ENGAGEMENT

The sweetness of winter.

When I encounter difficulties in my life, my first instinct is to not look on the bright side. Call me a pessimist, but I immediately think of worst-case scenario and prepare myself accordingly. I hate being uncomfortable and I do not appreciate being pushed out of my comfort zone. I don’t like pain and I don’t like feeling vulnerable to pain.

I almost want to expect the negatives so I won’t be hurt in the future. When a “winter” season comes into my life, I have a tendency to want to rush out of it so as to escape whatever discomfort I may potentially feel.

But there is something to be said about actually embracing the winter seasons in our lives. Yes, there is pain and yes, there is discomfort. We always want to be happy, always want everything around us to be good and safe. But how would we know the value of good times if we never experienced hardships?

Perhaps we should reframe our view of hardships and difficulties. Perhaps they should be appreciated and valued more, for it is our challenges that shape us far more than our victories.

With love,
